Adam Ramage
SENIOR MANAGER: TAXATION + BUSINESS ADVISORY | Canny Accounting
SUPERPOWER // Working with clients to help identify goals + strategies to achieve them
Adam brings decades of experience in Accounting, Taxation and Business Advisory to his role helping our clients achieve their goals at Canny Group.
With personal experience in buying, growing, managing and also selling his own business, our clients benefit from the knowledge and “hands-on” approach he brings to his advice and support.
With clients in professional services, agriculture, hospitality and tourism, construction and more, his advice is backed by both his experience and that of his clients. He loves that today’s cloud-based tools provide clients with up to date details of their business performance and financial position, knowing this helps them make better business decisions.
Always eager to go on-site with clients, to really understand how their world works and gain insight beyond the numbers, and discovering the real operational goal of each business. A CPA and Registered Tax Agent, Adam brings his experience and understanding to support business owners meet compliance requirements whilst optimising their business operations.
Today, he is a business adviser committed to helping our clients achieve their goals, supporting them with advice on business structures, cash flow, taxation, operating and financing their business and personal affairs.
Being in “the game” for so long, Adam has seen his clients also buy, grow, and sell businesses and knows this is capable of setting clients up “for life”.
His background includes becoming a business owner at 17 and that included plenty of “learning opportunities” others may call mistakes, but he wouldn’t change it for the world. A contract grain harvester for five years, a share farmer, and a qualified wool classer.
Why accounting? Maths always made sense to Adam and combining his love of business and maths just sounded like accounting, so putting sub-optimal high school results behind him, he thrived at university as a mature age student. That was over 30 years ago, so “mature” was probably overstating it.
Starting as a trainee accountant, Adam ended up owning the business he started working in.
Adam has worked in businesses of less than ten and more than 150, has been Chairperson for Brunswick Secondary College and Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre, a President of Brunswick Rotary and he is currently the treasurer for Bellarine Training & Community Hub. A past coach of junior cricket (which he claims is the best game in the world). Experience he has learned and grew from.
Chairperson, Director, Principal, Treasurer, Junior Coach, all simply titles. But in those roles, Adam learned from those around him from very different backgrounds and can bring those learnings into each day at Canny Group.
With a love of the great outdoors, Adam enjoys wandering by the river and in the bush, toiling in the garden and venturing by an oval to watch any cricket on offer. As for footy season, his heart beats for the red and blue.
