Senior Accountant

This is a full-time role, and you will be based in our beautiful office in the Federal Mills Business precinct in North Geelong.

RESPONSIBILITIES + DUTIES

The successful applicant will be responsible for working closely with our clients and the accounting team as well as attending to:

  • Preparation of annual statements of accounts and supporting schedules to assist our clients with their compliance requirements and internal decision making in a timely manner
  • Have a strong understanding and ability to analyse financial reports produced
  • Identify and attend to calculations and reporting around compliance events and obligations such as capital gains, fringe benefits, insolvency, GST, PAYG withholding, PAYG instalments, fuel tax etc.
  • Careful completion and revision of work assigned to review stage, making sure all documents are saved for easy access at review and that all options around any queries have been thoroughly considered
  • Completion of work assigned within the time frame allotted
  • Presentation to clients when required
  • Undertake miscellaneous projects relevant to the position as required from time to time
  • Producing articles for marketing material

QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS

  • Skills with numbers and an analytics acumen
  • Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated time management and priority management skills
  • To analyse the client’s needs holistically and identify any risk, threat or opportunities for the client and refer to internally where additional legal, financial planning or other support is required
  • A high level of attention to detail and developed organisational skills
  • The ability to recognise an unknown topic and where to go to complete research related to your position within a reasonable timeframe
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and exposure to general accounting and internal software applications
  • Ability to learn and take on ad-hoc requests, handing more than one job at once
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a can-do attitude
  • Completed Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent
  • Completion of CPA or CA studies

Bookkeeper

We are a multidisciplinary firm of accountants, lawyers, financial advisers and registered NDIS Plan Managers and we are looking to add a Bookkeeper to our growing Accounting Team.

This full-time role which for the right candidate has the potential for career progression to an accountant.  You will be based at our beautiful office at the Federal Mills Business Precinct in North Geelong – with flexible work arrangements negotiable and salary will be commensurate with experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work closely with our Senior Bookkeeper on processing a large volume of monthly and quarterly BASs and IASs, including the preparation of appropriate workpapers
  • Process superannuation contributions and payments for clients in a timely manner
  • Set up new clients and manage the transfer of existing clients to cloud accounting platforms
  • Bookkeep client’s software and/or ledgers while understanding basic accounting knowledge
  • Prepare all aspects of the payroll function including processing wages and superannuation, calculating pay-as-you-go withholding and lodging single touch payroll for a broad range of clients
  • Register clients for WorkCover and/or payroll tax and prepare and lodge yearly and monthly declarations and returns
  • Additional tasks may include data entry, reconciliation, accounts receivable and accounts payable management

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Previous bookkeeping and/or accounting experience required
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent presentation required for client meetings and in-house seminars
  • Experience using Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks Online as well as advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and be proactive with clients’ needs
  • Sophisticated telephone manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Meeting and greeting our clients
  • Making appointments and calendar management
  • Assisting with various legal administration duties
  • Registering and directing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Various administration duties such as photocopying, filing, scanning etc.

CANNY PLAN MANAGEMENT

NDIS Plan Manager

We are a multidisciplinary firm of accountants, lawyers, financial advisers and we are a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme provider for Plan Management.

The Canny Plan Management division provides financial intermediary supports to NDIS Participants and we pride ourselves on our efficient and personalised NDIS Plan Management support to our clients and their providers.

We are looking for another Plan Manager to join our team.  The emphasis on this role will be to take responsibility for day-to-day supervision of our NDIS Participants’ plans and be the initial point of contact for new clients.  You will be the direct liaison for existing client queries and offer a high level of support to our Head of Plan Management.

Although experience is highly desirable, for the right candidate, this role has the potential to develop into a career within our NDIS Plan Management service arm.

This is a full-time position and you will be based in our beautiful office within the Federal Mills Business Precinct in North Geelong and salary will be commensurate with experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Act as a deputy to our Head of Plan Management and provide high-level administration and operation support where required
  • Manage client onboarding and exiting including setting up client Service Agreements and NDIS Plan Budgets
  • Liaise with NDIS Participants, Plan Nominees, Child Representatives and Support Coordinators to provide information on NDIS Requirements and respond to queries
  • Liaise with providers to ensure compliance with NDIS requirements and resolve any invoicing issues
  • Ensure claiming and financial activities are completed accurately and on time
  • Ensure quality record management and capturing of income and NDIS Participant budgets within our system
  • Exercise judgement and contribute critical knowledge and skills to develop and implement processes and procedures
  • Provide a high level of service and advice to clients and providers
  • Actively participate in the business growth targets and ensure satisfaction among all providers and clients
  • Ensure correspondence and documentation is managed efficiently and confidently by all team members
  • Ensure all NDIS reporting, and compliance requirements are met
  • Daily receipt, data entry and processing of provider invoices and client reimbursements
  • Assess provider invoices for NDIS compliance prior to data entry and processing
  • Liaise with providers to resolve any invoice discrepancies 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Experience in financial budget managing and monitoring
  • Experience in the use of CRM and financial software platforms
  • Demonstrated advanced ability in using a variety of software and Microsoft Office, and trouble shoot within computer software and systems
  • Demonstrate experience in delivering quality outcomes through relationship management and high-volume interactions
  • Understanding and commitment to person-centered support and services to people with disability
  • Be an effective time manager of your work tasks and work to improve the services offered to clients and providers through refining of communication and workflows
  • A positive, proactive and enthusiastic attitude to learning and engaging with our team and the wider Canny Group team
