The Bod Hub x Bodhi & Co

Donna Lindsay has no plans on slowing down any time soon.  The Bod Hub is a health and wellness hub that specialises in taking care of your overall health.  On offer is a range of services from nutritional support, pregnancy care, musculoskeletal treatment and now the addition of the boutique reformer Pilates Studio.

Tell us the story – your story, of how you came to be a specialist in health and wellness…

I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 12 years.  Initially, I ran a successful mobile personal training business in the Melbourne CBD while studying at University.  I then went on to work as the community health coordinator and group fitness manager of a large sports facility in Melbourne.  After my initial six years of University, I worked in a clinical rehabilitation space in Melbourne before realising I wanted to open my own space that didn’t just specialise in the one area.  I enjoyed working with musculoskeletal injuries but the passion for health and fitness was still there so opening my own space meant I could bring the two together and create a true wellness space.

What was your “lightbulb moment” – the moment you realised that The Bod Hub would be your footprint on the world?

My clinical space of Bodhi & Co was successful but I was leaving my space every day to train clients at another gym.  This meant I was away from my physical business space which affected my productivity and the ability for clients to book appointments.  While being in the fitness industry for such a long time, I also noticed the increased strand in Pilates (especially reformer Pilates) for “fitness”.  There was clinical Pilates and what I call fitness Pilates but not many places offered combined styles with qualified practitioners.

Everybody has something they love, what do you love about your ‘job’?

I love that ever day is different.  Some days I am treating clients to help with injuries, other days I’m helping new mums feel confident and safe in a group exercise environment.  Helping people navigate the health and wellness industry to find enjoyment and learn along the way is one of my favourite things to see.

What do you find is the main reason that keeps you getting up every morning, heading out the door and off to work?

I know that ever day there is a chance that I will be the person that is finally able to help them and bring relief or comfort.

Tell us your secret… What are some of the little joys that you bring to your clients’ lives who have entrusted you to assist them?

For my classes, I know one of the main joys for people is they get a tasty great after they have completed their hard work!

I also know my space is very welcoming to everybody as it isn’t your typical “clinic” vibe, so it puts people at ease.  Clients also know they can bring their babies, their children, and their four-legged furry friends and feel at ease as there is no judgment, they can just relax.

If we were to spend a day in your shoes, what would that look like?

Most days I start early in the morning with back-to-back group classes and private reformer sessions.  I then start my individual clients which can vary from massage, dry needling, cupping, relaxation massage and right through to nutrition.

I also teach classes at night and try and finish most days by 7pm to be home with the floof.

What do you consider a good day at work for you?

That someone has left my clinic, feeling better than when they walked in.

Tell us about what you do and what sets you apart from the other businesses that are offering health and wellness and Pilates classes?

They are boutique in size, meaning every class can be tailored no matter their stage of fitness and well-being.  I offer babes and besties not just mums and bubs, so anyone is welcome to come with their little one.  They can also bring little ones at any age and be welcome.  My classes are a fusion of clinical Pilates mixed in with group fitness to bring fun to the class.  I also offer after-class treats to everyone which include coffee, juices, smoothies and protein balls.

Every business needs an adviser, who do you turn to for help at Canny Group and with so many accountants Geelong has on offer, why Canny Group?

I see Amanda for all of my business and personal needs.

Canny Group make something I dread (accounting and bookkeeping) stress-free and it doesn’t make me feel like it’s completely over my head.  They make you feel important and accepted no matter your business size.  A small business is treated the same way as a big corporation, I’m not just another client.

What kind of support have you received from Canny Group since joining forces with them as your Accountant?

Everything!

I see the accounting team, the financial planning team, I’ve had a Will prepared by the legal team as well.  Honestly, I see everybody!

Looking into The Bod Hub crystal ball… What do you see the future looking like for you and your business?

I see my business expensing with more allied health services offered.  I also see it as the place to go for women for all pre and post-natal care needs no matter what.  Reformer Pilates will also be offered on a larger scale too.
