Mekayla Lambert

After finishing school and going into an early childhood education and care setting, Mekayla saw the great need for more supports for people (in her case children and young people) with disabilities, it was the launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in 2013 that sparked her desire to learn more.  Mekayla studied a Certificate IV in Mental Health and Disability as she was passionate and determined to be better able to understand and support the children that had been entrusted into her care.

During a couple of years spent abroad over in the United States of America as a nanny, her time was spent caring for a child whom had a complex disability and it was because of this experience that really made Mekayla encourage herself to consider the kind of role she wanted to take when she returned home to Australia.  Upon touching down on home soil, Mekayla hopped off the plane and went straight into a support worker/peer mentor role for three years, where she had the opportunity to really learn about the National Disability Insurance Scheme and supporting NDIS Participants who were on the scheme.

This is how I finally found myself at home, at Canny Group, in the NDIS Plan Management team!

Mekayla loves that her role with Canny Plan Management, gives the opportunity to support the NDIS Participant in such a unique way and admits that there is nothing more rewarding than helping our NDIS Participants to achieve positive outcomes!

Mekayla’s role in our NDIS Plan Management’s team focuses on referencing the National Disability Insurance Scheme website and Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits Guide to ensure accuracy and compliance from NDIS Providers and she’s proud to never shy away from a challenge or the more complex tasks that come her way.

Outside of work, you’ll find Mekayla spending quality time with her family, travelling anytime she gets the opportunity, reading and enjoying outdoor adventures!
