Insight: Business Law Services

Written by: Gabrielle Andersen | Canny Insight

Now that we have our new Canny Insight Business Law Service up and running, we wanted to give all of our canny business owners an update on exactly what this new service is, how it is different to other legal services and how it can help you and your business thrive!

What Is Canny Insight + How Is It Different From Other Legal Services?

Canny Insight, put simply, is an in-house lawyer without the price tag.

We are providing your business with a holistic legal service that not only looks at what you need now, but also what your business needs in order to achieve your goals in the future.

We sit way outside the traditional legal services bubble.  While we’re still commercial lawyers providing you with the same trusty commercial and business law services we always have, we have streamlined this legal service so that it meets the needs of your business, instead of expecting you to do all of the legwork.

We do this in two ways:

  1. With 12-month subscription packages – where you can spread your total legal costs over equal monthly payments.  This makes our service not only more affordable, but there are also no nasty surprise additions or uncertainties with your legal costs.
  2. We give you exactly what you need, and nothing you don’t.  Instead of waiting for a legal issue to arise, we provide an initial legal audit of your business which will focus on whether your business has the right documents and protections in place.  From here we provide you with our Legal Audit Report, which provides a clear overview of your business, its legal needs, the services we will provide to meet those legal needs, and the timeframe these will be provided.

Often there is uncertainty in legal services – both in time and costs. Canny Insight takes all of this uncertainty away.  We are providing legal services to suit your business in a way that is convenient and cost-effective.

What Business Law Services Does Canny Insight Provide?

We know better than most how busy our business clients are and that the documents that can protect us for the future are often unfortunately left until last, and sometimes too late.  Here is a list of our Canny Insight services, which might also neatly align with tasks you’ve been meaning to get to but haven’t yet had a chance to – a very common feeling when you’re a busy business owner!

  • Employment Agreements – for your permanent and casual employees
  • Independent Contractors Agreement – for any consultants or contractors you have working for your business
  • Service Agreements – for the services you are providing to your customers/clients. These are a must for any NDIS service provider businesses!
  • Service/Supply Agreements – for any arrangements you have with other businesses or suppliers
  • Website (or booking or payment) terms and conditions
  • Privacy Policies
  • Disclaimer statements or waivers – for any consulting work you do
  • Client waiver and consents
  • Motor Vehicle Agreements – for any company vehicles your employees or contractors may be using
  • Preparation of your business’s internal policies, such as:
    • Policies covering workplace behaviour and preventing workplace harassment and bullying.
    • Leave policies dealing with all types of leave, flexible work arrangements, parental + maternity leave and redundancy.
    • Policies outlining general workplace etiquette and expectations, such as the expected dress code, smoking guidelines, or dealing with Covid + Influenza cases.
    • Policies covering the use of company devices, including appropriate use, confidentiality, privacy + data breaches and intellectual property.
    • Complaint resolution policies.
    • Tailored policies depending on your industry and compliance requirements
