From working for one of Australia’s largest independent finance broking firms and taking a short hiatus before returning to the industry in 2021 to set up as a broker herself in her hometown of Geelong, Jana Clack is back on the scene as a local independent financial broker specialising in plant and equipment.  Finding the best finance solutions for the equipment that her clients are purchasing, whether that be in the shape of a new ute for a tradie, a tractor for a farmer or an excavator for an earthmoving company, her clients are lucky enough to have access to not only the best wholesale rates but as she is affiliated with Quantum Business Finance she has access to the key decision-makers who are accredited with over 30 bank and non-banking lenders.  Helping her clients who are generally time-poor and sometimes do not fit the normal ‘mould’ for finance approval but with Jana’s help, she is able to make dreams a reality.

Aside from the obvious… in your own words, what is Jana Clack – Independent Finance Broker?

I’m a local independent financial broker, specialising in plant and equipment.  I assist businesses to find the best finance solutions for the equipment they’re purchasing.  Whether it be a new ute for a tradie, a tractor for a farmer, an excavator for an earthmoving company or some new IT equipment for the office, I can help.

Tell us the story – your story of how you came to be in business on your own as a Finance Broker for Quantum Business + how long have you been up + running for?

I worked at Quantum Business Finance in Melbourne for 10 years as their office manager and broker support.  After taking a short hiatus in 2021, an opportunity arose to return as a broker in my own right in Geelong and I’ve been in the role since the start of 2022.

There’s a lot of competition out there for the industry that your business is in, what sets YOU apart from the next business that is offering financial services for plant and equipment businesses?

As a locally-based broker here in Geelong, I’m able to offer a personalised and flexible service for businesses.  Being affiliated with Quantum Business Finance means that I get access to not only the best wholesale rates but also to the key decision-makers at each lender as they are accredited with over 30 bank and non-banking lenders.  It is the largest independent finance broking firm in Australia.

What are some of the biggest struggles that you see your clients going through prior to coming to see you?

Business owners simply do not have the access to the range of lenders or wholesale rates that I do.  They’re also quite often time poor trying to run their business, so providing my service allows business owners to continue doing what they do best.

What are some of the little joys that you bring to those that have entrusted you with their finance broking?

I recently helped a client finance a new vehicle that he was having trouble getting finance for because he didn’t fit the traditional ‘mould’ for lending.  I was able to get the car financed through one of our non-bank lenders and the client could not thank me enough.

If we were to spend a day in your shoes – what would that look like?

No day is ever the same in this industry.  If I have settlements scheduled for the day, then they are always my priority as the sooner my clients can receive their equipment the sooner they can use it – it’s as simple as that!  If I’m not busy doing settlements then I’m usually busy talking with clients, suppliers and of course, lenders.

What do you consider a good day at work for you?

I thrive on being busy!  So, a good day for me is when the phone is ringing (a lot), I’m out visiting clients and getting finance approved for their new equipment!

So… 30 June is coming up AKA the end of the financial year, is there still time to go shopping and get this back in the form of a nice little tax deduction?

Absolutely!  Obviously, some new vehicles and equipment are difficult to source right now with the supply demands, but if your equipment is available, I can offer fast turnaround times often with low doc requirements only.

I’m looking to grow my profile and expand my business while still maintaining ongoing relationships with my current clients.  My goal is to become the Geelong and surrounding areas’ go-to equipment financer broker!
